About three years ago, I sent Elmer Dills an e-mail.\u00a0 I had a few questions about writing\u00a0restaurant reviews.\u00a0 And the very next\u00a0day I arrived home to hear a message on my answering machine from Elmer Dills.\u00a0 He\u00a0responded to my e-mail by calling me.\u00a0 He left\u00a0his actual home\u00a0and\u00a0KABC studio phone numbers.\u00a0 I couldn’t believe it.\u00a0\u00a0I was so excited.\u00a0<\/p>\n

I called him back immediately and we talked on the telephone for\u00a020 minutes.\u00a0 One thing I remember is — He\u00a0told me that a reviewer should be careful not to injure the reviewee.\u00a0 Every entity has its good days and bad days, and good qualities and those that need improvement.\u00a0 Honesty is important, but be conscious of livelihood.<\/p>\n

And he also invited me to provide a restaurant review on his radio program on KRLA — But\u00a0at that time I didn’t have a specific food angle, nor restaurant to rave about, plus I was kinda nervous.\u00a0\u00a0I did appreciate our conversation.\u00a0<\/p>\n

I saved his message for about two years — I’m such a dork sometimes.\u00a0 I’m surprised I never crank called him (HA), or is it prank called?\u00a0 I’m still not sure about that.\u00a0 Either way,\u00a0THANKS for your time and advice Elmer.\u00a0\u00a0I hope your last meal was fantastic!<\/p>\n

FYI:\u00a0 A Memorial Service open to the public will be held at 1:00p.m. on October\u00a03rd at All Saints Church, 132 North Euclid Avenue, Pasadena, California 91101.\u00a0 RIP.<\/p>\n
