The Crab Cooker<\/strong><\/a>\u00a0is an oldie, but goodie in Newport Beach.\u00a0 It’s been open since 1951 and still draws a crowd each day.\u00a0 The prices are relatively reasonable for a beach area restaurant and the food is consistently fresh.\u00a0 Most of my recent trips have been to its Fish Market<\/a><\/strong>.\u00a0 Since the restaurant is within walking distance to the beach, we often get the Smoked Albacore<\/strong> to go.\u00a0 With a little\u00a0Cocktail Sauce<\/strong> and Tartar Sauce <\/strong>for dipping, you’re set for a beach picnic if you can successfully avoid the pesty seagulls<\/a>.<\/p>\n

\"Smoked<\/a><\/p>\n

The Crab Cooker’s Smoked Salmon<\/strong> and King Crab Legs<\/strong> (pictured above) and their Manhattan Clam Chowder<\/strong>, Scallops on a Skewer<\/strong> and Romano Cheese Potatoes<\/strong> are also\u00a0favorites of ours.\u00a0 People\u00a0travel miles to have the Romano Potatoes<\/a>, but if you’re looking for New England Clam Chowder you won’t find it here, as they only\u00a0serve Manhattan, which is different because most seafood restaurants only offer\u00a0New England.<\/p>\n

On this beautiful day in January, we enjoyed our Smoked Albacore on the beach while watching the brave surfers and boogie boarders — The water is still way too cold for me, even with a wetsuit, but it’s entertaining (and warmer) to watch.<\/p>\n
