I previously wrote the following SIDEBAR for a book that never got published, so I’ve decided to print it here on Nibbles of Tidbits.\u00a0 <\/span>It\u2019s a short summary about FOOD in ORANGE COUNTY.<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

Orange County (\u201cThe OC\u201d), California<\/span> is more than one narrowly portrayed personality, as seen on TV \u2013 But we\u2019ll focus on the food.\u00a0 <\/span>It\u2019s a fine blend of many personalities, specialties and ethnicities. It’s a\u00a0county\u00a0made up of 34\u00a0diverse incorporated cities that span almost 800 square miles.\u00a0 <\/span>To associate Orange County with just one character, note or dimension wouldn\u2019t be true.\u00a0 <\/span>But again, let\u2019s get away from the gaggy OC television programs and back to its food.<\/span><\/p>\n

Instead of\u00a0one\u00a0incentive to eat in <\/span>Orange County<\/span>, there are a multitude of\u00a0motivations to enjoy a\u00a0meal\u00a0there.\u00a0 From Aliso Viejo to Yorba Linda alphabetically, or\u00a0<\/span>San Clemente<\/span>\u00a0to La\u00a0Habra geographically, you would be hard pressed not to find the best of your favorite dish there —\u00a0The odds are in your favor and the payoff can be delicious.\u00a0 One does not need to travel out of the county to find the best Steak, the best Taco, the best F<\/span>ried Rice<\/span>,\u00a0or the best Fish, etc.\u00a0 All\u00a0can be found in the OC.<\/span><\/p>\n

Many people still travel to <\/span>Buena Park <\/span>to stand in line for\u00a0Mrs. Knott’s <\/span>Fried Chicken<\/span>, which has been served since 1934.\u00a0 Since that time, the available food has\u00a0evolved in such a way that there is now something\u00a0remarkable for everyone.\u00a0 The growth of the\u00a0Hispanic and Asian populations in recent decades has significantly influenced its culture and food offerings.<\/span><\/p>\n

Some of the finest Mexican food is here in almost every city —\u00a0And who\u00a0doesn’t\u00a0love Mexican food?\u00a0\u00a0The <\/span>Asian cuisines<\/span> are also well represented in\u00a0Orange County.\u00a0 Excellent Chinese, Japanese,\u00a0Thai and Vietnamese restaurants can be found without\u00a0roaming too far.\u00a0 Sushi is also very popular.\u00a0\u00a0One can\u00a0voyage to the coastal cities, such as Newport Beach and Dana Point to take pleasure in its fresh Fish offerings and oceanfront dining.\u00a0 Oh, I can’t leave out\u00a0Italian food, since I’ve had the absolute best in this county.\u00a0 And finally, <\/span>Indian food<\/span>\u00a0deserves a most\u00a0honorable mention, since Orange County is where I learned to love it.\u00a0 The flavors are intense and the OC’s offerings are top quality.<\/span><\/p>\n

Many\u00a0great chefs appear to be\u00a0venturing out in this direction making the choices even better.\u00a0 Fondue restaurants seem to be popping up recently in a few locations throughout the county.\u00a0 And Irvine is the\u00a0the hub of the business district, which tends to entice\u00a0some of the more\u00a0sophisticated restaurants.<\/span><\/p>\n

Orange County<\/span> has more than its share of small <\/span>hidden treasures<\/span>\u00a0and\u00a0fine dining establishments.\u00a0 This\u00a0sidebar merely touches upon the various specialties in the OC.\u00a0 As stated, Orange County doesn’t just have one draw —\u00a0It has too many to mention here.<\/span><\/p>\n
