A Christmas Party and Cost Plus World Market<\/strong><\/a> go very well together.\u00a0 This year I hosted my 16th Annual Girl’s Christmas Party <\/strong>for several long-time dear friends (and the best\u00a0sister in the world), and\u00a0Cost Plus fit right in, since my relationship with it spans equally\u00a0long.\u00a0\u00a0My first apartment in Belmont Shore\u00a0was basically furnished by them —\u00a0I was so proud of its style and still have several cool imports and dishes from way-back when.\u00a0 For this Sweet 16<\/strong>, CPWM<\/a> generously provided a Gift Card that was used to purchase all snacks, prizes, drinks, wrap,\u00a0and most stylish and tasty party supplies.\u00a0 What a great thing!<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

Each guest brings an Appetizer<\/strong>, Salad<\/strong> or<\/span> Side Dish<\/strong>, plus a GIFT for a wild gift exchange with plenty of opportunities to\u00a0steal what you really<\/em> want — And this year, as always<\/a> we enjoyed an abundance of FOOD, fun\u00a0and laughs.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

A PRIZE is awarded to the person bringing the Best Voted Appetizer<\/strong>, an incentive to bring something good.\u00a0 Guests cast\u00a0anonymous (and sometimes\u00a0padded and made-up) votes that are tallied to choose a hopefully\u00a0legitimate winner.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

Desserts are always baked by my treasured friend Loretta, whose goodies can’t be beat.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

Having one person bring the Dessert is also strategic —\u00a0In\u00a0earlier party days, guests\/friends\u00a0 were\u00a0asked\u00a0to bring an Appetizer or<\/span> Dessert and I learned that it\u00a0would produce\u00a0too many Desserts and not enough Appetizers.\u00a0 Now, Loretta\u00a0automatically receives\u00a0a prize for her award-winning Desserts and there’s always enough savory stuff to eat.\u00a0 This year,\u00a0Patty aka Tricia won a prize for her Salad pictured at top.\u00a0 All tasted\u00a0fantastic — And\u00a0I’m now trying to obtain the recipe for the Tapenade\u00a0pictured above, which was made by my friend, Nora’s husband Brian.\u00a0 If allowed, I’ll share it here, as it was truly outstanding and a runner-up to the Salad.<\/p>\n

Wouldn’t you know that I had technical difficulties with my camera this evening, which resulted in mostly blurry and poorly lighted food dishes that can’t be shared. \ud83d\ude41<\/p>\n

Cost Plus World Market<\/a> recently\u00a0to stumbled upon Nibbles of Tidbits<\/strong>, and me\u00a0who is already in love with them — The result is continuous adoration and perfect party supplies (from around the world) for my Sweet 16th Annual Girl’s Christmas Party.\u00a0 We girls appreciated it ALL!<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a>\"\"<\/a>\"\"\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

Because I like handing out prizes and laughing at people playing the stupid games I come up with, each year<\/a>\u00a0we play several new and old favorites\u00a0— This year\u00a0Nora won\u00a0the red and white votive candles, Arlene won the Oil & Vinegar Cruets, Loretta won the colander, soap and bath fizzies, and Heidi won the Chocolate Champagne bottle and more.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

The pictured\u00a0snacks were chosen from CPWM<\/a>‘s seemingly endless selection of international goods.\u00a0 It was hard to decide, as one could host a variety of party themes\u00a0with\u00a0Cost Plus food.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

And a\u00a0BIG SHOUT OUT needs to go out for\u00a0the\u00a0White Cheddar Snowball Puffs<\/strong>!\u00a0 They have a perfect amount of tasty Cheddar flavor and a nicely crisp puff.\u00a0 They were a hit and\u00a0I want to go back for more before they disappear.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

Cost Plus is the only place I’ve seen thus far with Red & Green Tortilla Chips<\/strong> that\u00a0taste and look good.\u00a0 I served them with a favorite Salsa determined during a Salsa Taste-Off<\/a>.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

And if you don’t know already, Cost Plus World Market offers an amazing selection of Beer and Wine.\u00a0 We enjoyed Stella Artois<\/strong>, Corona Extra<\/strong> and\u00a0Skinny Dip New Belgium<\/strong>\u00a0— Had to get it for the name and we were pleasantly surprised by its likable flavor.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

To keep our drinks straight, we used the above drink markers, also from Cost Plus.\u00a0 I turned ’em into a game by awarding a prize to the person picking the\u00a0prized adjective — Whomever chose\u00a0DESPERATE won.<\/p>\n

Although I’ve shopped at Cost Plus for years, I haven’t purchased much of their Beer, Wine or other imported beverages, which is probably a bit odd, since many shop there specifically for it.\u00a0 Since CPWM sponsored most of this year’s party, it was a great opportunity\u00a0to\u00a0sample\u00a0their infinite offerings — And ultimately there was an\u00a0overwhelming response to\u00a0the Cristalino\u00a0Champagne.\u00a0\u00a0It’s terrifically bubbly,\u00a0fresh and not too sweet.\u00a0 It’s an excellent inexpensive Champagne.\u00a0 Other photos reflect\u00a0prizes happily won by\u00a0guests.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a>\"\"<\/a>\"\"<\/a>\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

Do you like my Charlie Brown Christmas Tree?\u00a0 It’s easy clean up, but I’m starting to miss a real one.\u00a0 Maybe next year.\u00a0 Also pictured\u00a0is a giant bottle of the Champagne noted above.\u00a0 The large bottle was fun and oh so good — We went through it too fast.\u00a0 And I probably talked on the microphone too much, but had to get the attention of the rebellious crowd to participate in the\u00a0next silly game.\u00a0 There were cool prizes to be won.<\/p>\n
