Congratulations to Chef Nicola Bellazzi who is the new Champion Chef of Orange County<\/strong> in the Sunday Night Chef Fights<\/a>\u00a0circuit, de-throwning Chef Lindsay Smith-Rosales\u00a0—\u00a0It was a\u00a0fun experience and\u00a0the food was much better than expected.\u00a0 I was a little unsure, since the drawn and mystery ingredients were Ham, Cauliflower, Sweet Potato and Coconut.<\/p>\n

Chef Bellazzi cooked first —\u00a0Each Chef had 30 minutes to finalize their\u00a0meal for the audience.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

Starting with Cauliflower & Sweet Potato Soup with Prosciutto Bits and Shaved Coconut.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

The above Soup was thought to be a favorite overall by many around us.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

Also prepared by Chef Bellazzi was the Penne Pasta with Prosciutto, Arugula, Coconut Cream and Truffle Oil — It and the dish below it were those I liked best and tasted amazing.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

Chicken Tenders with Italian Ham, cooked in Coconut Milk, topped with Cauliflower and served over Sweet Mashed Potatoes aromatized with Gorgonzola and Coconut Bits.<\/p>\n

And a\u00a0Sweet Potato & Coconut Creme Brulee (not pictured) was served for dessert.<\/p>\n

Chef Bellazzi prepared a menu and since one wasn’t provided by Chef Smith-Rosales, handwritten notes were made by our Chef Fight neighbors.\u00a0 Both are shown above.\u00a0 There’s better description for the first meal.\u00a0 I prefer a menu and don’t want to take notes.<\/p>\n

Preparing and serving\u00a0our second Soup, Cream of Cauliflower with Pancetta Crisps.<\/p>\n

The second meal to be cooked in 30 minutes and compared to the first.<\/p>\n

Continuing with\u00a0a Spiced Chicken Thigh with\u00a0Curry,\u00a0Coconut Rice, Cilantro and Spinach.<\/p>\n

All was finished with a Sweet Potato Custard with Coconut Caramel.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

In between all was a blind Wine tasting — A taste of A, B\u00a0and C to pick what we liked best.<\/p>\n

As announced, Chef Bellazzi is the new champion and the guests won too, because everything was terrific — The food was notable, the service was diligent and swift, we ate\u00a0from real plates\u00a0with silverware rolled in cloth napkins, and all seemed well orchestrated.\u00a0\u00a0Sunday Night Chef Fights<\/strong> value is better than\u00a0initially thought.\u00a0 We left full and satisfied.\u00a0 Cheers!<\/p>\n
