Some moments\u00a0seem so long, but life is\u00a0really quite short.\u00a0 Cherish it.\u00a0 The Crystal Cove Beach Cottages<\/a> first appeared\u00a0in black and white, and today The Beachcomber<\/a>\u00a0<\/strong>plays in color.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

I’d been wanting to explore\u00a0the Crystal Cove State Park Historic District<\/strong>, the Beach Cottages, and The Beachcomber for some time now, but\u00a0hadn’t been\u00a0sure\u00a0how to get there.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

I happily know how to get there now and you will too — It’s easier than\u00a0you might think.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

Park at Los Trancos (cliff side) and\u00a0PCH to catch the shuttle down\u00a0Crystal Cove (beach side).<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

The Beach Shuttle<\/strong> is\u00a0$1.00 each way —\u00a0It’s\u00a0seamless\u00a0and you’re suddenly there.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

After drop off, you pass The Park Store and Visitor Center on\u00a0the way to The Beachcomber<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

The Beachcomber <\/strong>is on the sand, overlooking the\u00a0Pacific — It was remodeled as a restaurant\u00a0from an existing\u00a0Beach Cottage\u00a0and used to be called the Whistle Stop<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

The Beachcomber at Crystal Cove also offers Beach Rentals<\/a>.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

Pictured above is a\u00a0North Beach Cottage<\/a>, part of the Phase II Restoration Project.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

The Dinner Menu —\u00a0Starters\/Appetizers are the same on the Lunch and Dinner Menu, but the Entries change, as does the menu from season to season.\u00a0 Blankets are always provided.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

The Beachcomber<\/a> Bar serves\u00a0Appetizers and Drinks only.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

We tried several specialty drinks including the Cucumber Mist Martini <\/strong>(pictured above), the El Morro Margarita, The Real Deal Margarita and the Black & Cran Martini.\u00a0 All were freshly stiff and thoroughly enjoyed on the patio over a leisurely period.<\/p>\n

We all recommend the Tunisian Pizza <\/strong>on Grilled Flatbread with Bleu Cheese, Smoked Bacon, Dates, Roasted Tomatoes and Basil.\u00a0 It’s sweet, savory and delicious, as described.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

On the Dinner Menu is Spinach Truffle Mac<\/strong> and other notable options.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

And Center Cut Filet Mignon <\/strong>topped with a Bleu Cheese Gratin.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

After consuming all, we played on the beach.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

And\u00a0thought about all that’s\u00a0transpired here in days gone by.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

Some Beach Cottages<\/strong> were constructed in the 1920’s with\u00a0wood that drifted ashore, after a lumber ship capsized.\u00a0 And many silent films were shot here, due to the area’s Tahitian, Hawaiian appearance.\u00a0 It’s most apparent in\u00a0B & W and appreciated in all colors.<\/p>\n

I talked to a young Lifeguard and so badly wanted to ask if\u00a0he’s making $100K a year + extra for sunscreen, as recently reported<\/a>, but\u00a0didn’t\u00a0inquire — Can’t blame him if it’s true.<\/p>\n

Worked off the food with silliness and laughter.<\/p>\n
