I’m beyond thrilled to know it’s easy\u00a0to create one of my favorite Candies, Fruit Gems, also known as Fruit Jellies aka Orange Slices, when flavored Orange, like the first batch I made.\u00a0<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

I found a Raspberry Jelly Candy Recipe<\/a> that I adapted to make the pictured Orange Gems.\u00a0<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

Instead of Raspberry Extract and Water, used in the linked recipe<\/a>, I substituted Orange Zest and Orange Juice<\/a> — Technically the Juice of 1 Orange plus enough Water to equal 3\/4 Cup.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

Orange Gem RECIPE In Short<\/strong>:\u00a0 Boil 1 Cup of Corn Syrup with 1 Cup of Sugar and\u00a0Zest of 1 Orange, and in a separate sauce pan boil 3\/4 Cup of fresh\u00a0Orange Juice with\u00a07 Tbsps.\u00a0of Fruit Pectin and 1\/4 Tsp. of Baking Soda — Marry the two combinations,\u00a0once boiled, and\u00a0stir for a minute longer, then pour\u00a0mixture into\u00a0easily unmold-able pan (as shown).<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

Bendable, disposable aluminum pans work well for unmolding\u00a0Candy.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

Before dropping into Sugar, let Candy sit and set,\u00a0loosely covered on\u00a0the counter overnight.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

Cut into strips, then squared gems\u00a0and coat all sides in Sugar — Voila, they’re awesome!<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

They taste better than any I’ve\u00a0purchased — If you love Fruit Gems<\/strong>, you have to make these.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

All\u00a0raved about them too —\u00a0I\u00a0made a second batch with Pink Grapefruit (below).<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

And a third batch with Blueberry Juice and Lemon Zest.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

The Grapefruit Gems were superb, like the Orange ones, but the Blueberry\u00a0Gems were comparably bland, and the Lemon Zest took over — Straight-up Lemon Gems would be\u00a0good, or Lime Zest with\u00a0Coconut Extract, the possibilities are endless.\u00a0 All natural first. \ud83d\ude42<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
