March is\u00a0time for Corned Beef and Cabbage<\/strong>, and I always cook the Cabbage, Carrots and Potatoes on the side.\u00a0 No Potatoes were used this time, as I generally pick around them.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

Why\u00a0cook the vegetables\u00a0on the side?\u00a0\u00a0Exhibit A<\/strong> (above), all the crap\u00a0that ends up floating in the Broth, after\u00a0the Corned Beef<\/a> cooks in a Crock Pot\u00a0(or Dutch Oven) for 10 hours.\u00a0<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

Instead I strain and boil some of the Crock Pot Broth, and\u00a0then cook the vegetables in it.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

When the Corned Beef is ready to fall apart, I brown the vegetables in a little Olive Oil.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

And then\u00a0add the strained, lightly boiled Broth to the pan, cover it, and cook all until the vegetables are tender —\u00a0It doesn’t take that long.\u00a0 Why would you\u00a0cook them for 10 hours?<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

Finally,\u00a0there is peace of mind knowing that nothing scary is hiding amongst the Cabbage.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
