We took a short trip to Temecula to celebrate our engagement.\u00a0 Thanks for the engagement gifts and money.\u00a0 We didn’t expect anything and finally cashed a few checks sent over a month ago.\u00a0 Sorry.\u00a0 We were set to spend it on backyard lounge chairs, but couldn’t find one long and comfortable enough for Mr. 6’4″, then\u00a0considered\u00a0it towards a new dishwasher, until deciding to spend it on a spontaneous weekend of eating and exploration.\u00a0 Thanks\u00a0for the fun!<\/p>\n

\"Temecula,<\/a>\"Temecula,<\/a>\"Temecula,<\/a>\"Temecula,<\/a><\/p>\n

It started with Coffee, King’s Hawaiian Rolls and a Lottery Ticket from 7-Eleven in Fullerton.<\/p>\n

\"Temecula,<\/a><\/p>\n

Without\u00a0any research, we\u00a0stopped at\u00a0various places of interest along the way and all day.<\/p>\n

\"Temecula,<\/a><\/p>\n

Once in Temecula, we started with\u00a0a Mango Margarita at Rosa’s Cantina<\/a>.<\/p>\n

\"Temecula,<\/a><\/p>\n

Where next?\u00a0 We picked on a whim.\u00a0 If it sounded good and had AC we were in.<\/p>\n

\"Temecula,<\/a><\/p>\n

One of our favorite stops was at Crush & Brew<\/a>, where we sniffed and tasted Wine.<\/p>\n

\"Temecula,<\/a><\/p>\n

We liked #3 (above) best and contemplated buying a bottle, but wanted to stretch our bucks to try more places and things.\u00a0 Crush & Brew<\/a>\u00a0also offers the largest Flat Breads we’ve seen.<\/p>\n

\"Temecula,<\/a><\/p>\n

We had the Greek Flat Bread, which filled us up\u00a0good (and we were trying to save room).<\/p>\n

\"Temecula,<\/a><\/p>\n

We take a moment to thank you for this opportunity — On to more Temecula finds…<\/p>\n

I’m not sure what Death Paste (above) was\/is — We didn’t want any. \ud83d\ude09<\/p>\n

Soro’s Mediterranean Grill<\/a> was our next stop for Dolma (aka Dolmades) and Iced Tea.<\/p>\n

\"Temecula,<\/a><\/p>\n

Blackbird Tavern<\/a> is below — It’s\u00a0a large, super-cool, indoor\/outdoor restaurant and bar.<\/p>\n

\"Temecula,<\/a><\/p>\n

What a great space they have — You wouldn’t know it from the front.<\/p>\n

\"Temecula,<\/a><\/p>\n

All this\u00a0outside is\u00a0hiding inside — Blackbird Tavern<\/a> is the place I miss living next to the most.<\/p>\n

I’m not sure what you call the toss-the-beanbag-game, but we played it — See it in flight?<\/p>\n

\"Temecula,<\/a><\/p>\n

I liked the starter (below) so much, I\u00a0recreated it at home — See the recipe here<\/a>.<\/p>\n

It’s called Olives & Almonds on their menu.<\/p>\n

We finally scratched\u00a0our scratcher and won nothing — No worries, it’s a great day.<\/p>\n

Stopped at PALA Casino with only $20\u00a0of our $250 designated towards hopeful multiplication.<\/p>\n

It was instead hijacked from the bunch after a short time in play.\u00a0 Adios.<\/p>\n

On the road again…\u00a0We bought Avocados off the side of the road.\u00a0 I always want an Avocado<\/a>.<\/p>\n

\"Temecula,<\/a><\/p>\n

On the way home, we stopped and walked around Oceanside —\u00a0View from its pier on an overcast day.\u00a0 The sun disappeared awhile, but do you see the giant bubble?\u00a0 Some guy was making them.\u00a0 Since we still had adventure money to spend, we\u00a0planned to stop at The Beach House<\/a> in Laguna Beach\u00a0to\u00a0exhaust the rest, but there was an hour wait and we didn’t want to.\u00a0 Instead, all was saved for the next day’s escapades\u00a0in the SOCO<\/a> District\u00a0of Fullerton<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

\"Temecula,<\/a><\/p>\n

We started at our favorite Tea Lounge<\/a> — Tranquil<\/a>.\u00a0 Iced is always\u00a0refreshing and flavorful.<\/p>\n

\"Temecula,<\/a><\/p>\n

Ended up at Joe’s No Limits! Bar & Grill<\/a> — We sought to eat and drink on patios only.<\/p>\n

\"Temecula,<\/a><\/p>\n

Had ‘Joe’s Picks’ Sausage selection\u00a0— I liked the Chicken & Jalapeno Sausage, primarily.<\/p>\n

\"Temecula,<\/a><\/p>\n

Though the menu doesn’t say, we were glad the above came with really good French Fries.<\/p>\n

\"Temecula,<\/a><\/p>\n

After Joe’s<\/a>, we went to The Slidebar Rock-N-Roll Kitchen<\/a> (below).<\/p>\n

\"Temecula,<\/a><\/p>\n

Cheers to more food and drinks on\u00a0SOCO patios.<\/p>\n

The Slidebar offers a long list of Opening Acts<\/a>\u00a0(they call ’em) aka Appetizers.<\/p>\n

We had the Smothered Tots and Deep Fried Pickles — Well prepared and different.<\/p>\n

\"Temecula,<\/a><\/p>\n

And the Deep Fried Mac N’ Cheese — Not the healthiest options, but it just so happened.<\/p>\n

Do you know where this heart is found?<\/p>\n

It’s at Fullerton Train Station<\/a>.\u00a0\u00a0We considered eating there, but opted for Hopscotch Tavern<\/a>.<\/p>\n

We were\u00a0down to our last few engagement-dollars and almost done eating.<\/p>\n

On our final SOCO patio of the day —\u00a0Hopscotch Tavern<\/a> we had a shot of Tequila — Mezcal.<\/p>\n

And Donuts with Lavender, a\u00a0dessert special — I like the Hopscotch menu and will go back.<\/p>\n

We\u00a0appreciate the weekend journey —\u00a0It was worth it all and so much more.<\/p>\n
