Patrick and Gina of TV Food Network’s Show Down Home with the Neeleys<\/a><\/strong> are so cute —\u00a0They have\u00a0a lot of fun together centered around food.\u00a0 Their happy\u00a0interaction and enjoyment\u00a0made me want to make Pat’s\u00a0Sausage and Pepper Sandwich, and I’m generally not a fan of Sausage Sandwiches.\u00a0 Another appeal is the\u00a0Beer in the Sauce.\u00a0 And since I didn’t have\u00a0Neely’s BBQ Sauce (in the recipe),\u00a0I used Lucille’s<\/a> BBQ Sauce.\u00a0<\/p>\n

I went to Henry’s Farmers Market<\/a> for the Sausage — They didn’t have a Smoked Sausage, but the Butcher highly recommended the Pork Sausage\u00a0 over the Turkey, when asked\u00a0the difference between the two Sweet Hot Italians.\u00a0 As a substitution, I opted for\u00a0the Pork and was glad it was\u00a0$1 less a pound.\u00a0 And I ended up with\u00a0Potato Rolls that\u00a0were\u00a0toasted inside.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Confession<\/strong>:\u00a0 It wasn’t until after the preparation of this recipe did I realize that I misunderstood and used the wrong type of Sausage.\u00a0 The key word is “smoked” and I used fresh Sausage.\u00a0 A Kielbasa<\/a> in a vacuum pack may have been better, especially since casings gross me out.\u00a0 Good thing I cooked the Sausage well done.\u00a0 And I cooked all ingredients longer (except the Garlic) than noted on the above linked recipe.\u00a0\u00a0Onions are always best caramelized and the Peppers were added after the Onions cooked\u00a0a bit.<\/p>\n

Overall, it’s a great recipe —\u00a0The Sauce turns out pretty tasty.\u00a0 I now wanna\u00a0make it with a Kielbasa, and might not eat it on a Sandwich.\u00a0 Luckily all who tried this preparation liked it.<\/p>\n
